Hebron Valley Elementary Joint Concert Supports Neighboring School Districts
Hebron Valley Elementary Choir and Top Dogs Percussion Ensemble recently hosted a joint concert to benefit Richardson and Dallas ISD students’ families who were impacted by the tornado that devastated parts of North Texas this year.
“When we found out about the devastation at some of the schools in RISD and DISD, we felt heartbroken for the students, families, staff and community,” Hebron Valley Elementary Principal Tina Krol said. “Our goal at Hebron Valley is not only to teach our students academics but more importantly, to create opportunities for our students to be leaders and to make a positive impact in the community.”
To aid in their efforts, there were special performances by the Hebron High School ensemble choir, Flower Mound Elementary’s Choir and Percussion Ensemble, and Stewart’s Creek Choir and Dance Team. Together, the schools raised over $1,100.
When Hebron Valley fourth-grader Carissa Kim found out about the tornado damage, she was sad for the families affected, but grateful her school found a way to help.
“I was excited about the concert and thought we’d raise $200,” Kim said. “When I heard how much we raised, I was so happy and yelled, ‘Yay!’ I really hope the kids will still have a good education and get the materials they need for school this year.”
The concert was truly special, but also a teachable moment for all involved.
“I am super proud of the students and directors for coming together for this event,” Krol added. “No matter what part of Lewisville ISD you live in or where you go to school, we can come together to make a difference in the world. ”
