Flower Mound Chamber Awards | March 2024

A Garden Ridge Elementary student and teacher and the school were recognized on Tuesday, March 19 at the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce's luncheon at Circle R Ranch in Flower Mound, Texas.

Student of the Month - Cooper Rhodes
Garden Ridge Elementary student Cooper Rhodes was named the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce's March Student of the Month for his outstanding growth and progress during this school year. Cooper has shown remarkable development in the area of self-control, demonstrating a commendable commitment to personal improvement and maturity.

Throughout the year, Cooper has exhibited a heightened awareness of his actions and their impact, displaying a more thoughtful and mindful approach to interactions with both peers and adults. His ability to utilize learned strategies has greatly enhanced his reactions in various situations, reflecting a significant growth in emotional intelligence.

Academically, Cooper has also shown impressive improvement by diligently working to complete assignments in a timely manner. As we approach the conclusion of the school year, we eagerly anticipate witnessing Cooper's continued growth and success. Congratulations, Cooper, on this well-deserved recognition of your growth and achievements.

Teacher of the Month - Hope Paar
Garden Ridge Elementary teacher Hope Paar was named the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce's March Teacher of the Month. Mrs. Paar serves as our Functional Life Skills teacher, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to the school's medically fragile students. Her passion for their well-being is evident in her daily efforts to ensure that each student's unique learning, health, and social-emotional needs are not just met but exceeded.

Beyond her dedication to her students, Mrs. Paar has also fostered positive relationships with parents, staff, and students alike. Her collaborative spirit shines through as she works closely with staff, providing them with the necessary training to best support their students' needs.

It's clear to everyone who interacts with Mrs. Paar that she loves what she does and cares deeply for her students. Her enthusiasm, compassion, and expertise make her a shining example of excellence in teaching.

School of the Month - Garden Ridge Elementary
Garden Ridge Elementary was named the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce's March School of the month for its commitment to the mantra of "Every student, everyday, whatever it takes!" This commitment is embedded in the school's core values and educational philosophy, and it drives every aspect of the mission and vision to become an elementary school in which all students are engaged in differentiated learning at high levels equipping them with the knowledge and skills to become innovators in this ever-changing world. Garden Ridge Elementary is a small community school with about 350 students. 

A strong partnership with parents and community members ensures that all students' academic and social emotional needs are met. Recently, Garden Ridge received a rating of 100% customer satisfaction, which is indicative of their positive school culture. 

Garden Ridge students are afforded incredible opportunities not just academically but through extracurricular activities, such as their Broadcast team, which was featured on NBC Nightly News Lester Holt: Kids Edition highlighting the summer Anchor camp with Wayne Carter of “Carter in the Classroom.” In addition, the Student Council received the TEPSA student leadership award as well as the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) American Student Council Association School of Excellence Award for their outstanding contributions to serving the community.
