Flower Mound Chamber Awards | January 2025

Forest Vista student Vivienne Macias, Librarian Katie Delamarter and Forest Vista were all recognized at the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce's luncheon held at the Lantana Golf Club on Tuesday, Jan. 21. 

Student of the Month – Vivienne Macias
Forest Vista Elementary fifth-grader Vivienne Macias is an elected member of Student Council and has taken on the responsibility of President. She is an active member of the school's Choir and Chimes group and is Forest Vista’s representative on LISD Superintendent Dr. Lori Rapp’s Elementary Student Advisory Committee. Outside of school, she enjoys Dance – specifically Jazz and Contemporary. In the future, she would like to use her skills and creativity to be a professional photographer or professional singer.

Teacher of the Month – Katie Delamarter
Forest Vista Elementary Librarian and Media Specialist Katie Delamarter was given the challenge to help the campus become better at using online books to read for elementary students. Not only did she master that challenge, but she has significantly increased eBook reading across the entire school. This year, she was a recipient of a Lewisville ISD Education Foundation Grant where she used the funds for a creative space in the library. She also coordinates the student morning announcements and is one of the school’s Facebook editors. In addition to leading engaging library literature lessons with students every day, she has launched a lunch book club for 5th graders called The Literacy Lunch Bunch. She is also sponsoring six different authors to virtually connect with students to celebrate World Read Aloud Day.

School of the Month – Forest Vista Elementary
Forest Vista Elementary School was established in 1997 and has been part of the Lewisville ISD and the Forestwood Middle School/Flower Mound High School feeder pattern for 28 years. The school serves students from Pre-K through 5th grade. It is a nice neighborhood school that is also known for its strong academic performance and programs in the arts. The school is also known for great family involvement and volunteers. There is an active Parent Teacher Association where families and staff work together to create various sponsored events for students and families. One such program is the campus-wide character traits program – ICARE, where there is a focus on Integrity, Cooperation, Positive Attitude, Respect and Effort. Principal, Dr. Patrick Schott is currently in his 18th year as principal at Forest Vista Elementary.
