Creekside Elementary Named Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce/DATCU November School of the Month
Creekside Elementary has been selected as the Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce/DATCU Credit Union November School of the Month – the third honoree of the 2019-2020 school year.
Creekside was chosen because of its constant dedication, hard work and energy given toward student success, as well as successfully implementing Lewisville ISD’s Four Cornerstones.
Community Engagement thrives at Creekside Elementary. As the first school to bring the Watch D.O.G.S. program to Lewisville ISD several years ago, Creekside has continued to grow and expand the initiative. Today, dozens of fathers and parental-figures volunteer at Creekside, serving not only as positive role models, but as extra sets of eyes on campus. The campus also recently hosted their annual Literacy Night as well as held a Veterans Day celebration to thank community veterans.
Beyond Community Engagement, Creekside ensures students have engaging experiences beyond the classroom walls, which is evident by the recent fourth-grade trip to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Dallas Museum of Art. Next up, Creekside plans to incorporate the DrumFIT program in P.E., which will combine rhythm and movement in all new ways and further enhance the Student Experience. Creekside Elementary continues to go above and beyond to ensure students thrive in a future they create, which is why the campus was named the November School of the Month.
Creekside Principal Rod McGinnis accepted the award Dec. 17 at the Chamber’s holiday partnership luncheon held at Courtyard by Marriott in Flower Mound. DATCU Community Relations Coordinator Mary Jacoby and Chamber Board Chair Dan Irvin made the presentation.
