TECC-East Breaks Ground on Voter-Approved Expansion
Lewisville ISD’s Technology, Exploration and Career Center East campus (TECC-East) recently broke ground on its facility expansion. This construction was approved by voters in the 2017 bond election and will be the final major project from the 2017 referendum.
The new construction will allow for more students to take Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes at the campus, which currently serves thousands of high schoolers seeking to earn professional certifications and hands-on career experience before graduation. It will allow for the expansion of several new programs such as Dental Assisting and Off-Road Diesel curriculum, as well as Welding being added to TECC-East after becoming one of TECC-West’s most popular courses.
The Dental Assisting program will offer students additional coursework in the Practicum of Health Science program, joining Pharmacy Tech and Medical Assisting. The space for this program is expected to be completed by August of 2024, with the program beginning in January 2025.
TECC-East’s state-of-the-art Auto Tech program will see the addition of Off-Road Diesel coursework, which will teach students to repair and maintain construction and agricultural equipment. This program will also begin in January of 2025, with construction of new facilities being complete in March 2025.
The Welding program expansion is expected to be complete by August 2025 after renovations to the existing Auto Tech facilities are complete.
Construction of the TECC-East expansion is being managed by Pogue Construction.
