Lewisville ISD Named to Forbes’ ‘Best Employers for Diversity’ List
Lewisville Independent School District has once again been named one of America’s Best Employers for Diversity by Forbes. LISD was one of just two public school districts in the nation to make the list, and the only district in the state of Texas to be recognized.
“Lewisville ISD has made an intentional effort to create a culture of belonging for all stakeholders in our community,” said Matthew Morris, LISD Director of Diversity & Student Engagement. “Through cultural proficiency and a focus on student engagement our commitment to diversity is evident in every school, every day. Being highlighted on the Forbes Best Employers for Diversity list for two consecutive years is a testament to this commitment.”
To create its rankings, Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to create the sixth annual list of America’s Best Employers for Diversity. To determine the rankings, Statista surveyed more than 45,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees. Participants were asked to anonymously rate their organizations based on criteria such as age, gender, ethnicity, disability and LGBTQ+ equality, as well as general diversity.
LISD is no stranger to Forbes’ best-of lists, having been named to the outlet’s “America’s Best Employers” list as the top school district in DFW in 2021 and 2022.
“LISD is a great place to work,” said Chief Human Resource Officer Shelia Smith. “We truly have a diverse staff who share a common purpose in doing our best for the students in our district!”
During the 2022-23 school year, LISD has placed an increased emphasis on supporting district staff by opening additional lines of communication between administration and campuses, encouraging the recognition of staff members through the Recognize SomeONE program and spotlighting the day-to-day efforts of the district’s 6,500 staff members. LISD administration, spearheaded by Superintendent Dr. Lori Rapp, have also been extremely active in advocating for public education during the state’s ongoing legislative session.
Being on the list for two years now proves that everything LISD is doing is not only working but noticed,” said Director of Recruitment and Retention Alex Rivera. “When I’m recruiting new candidates, whether at job fairs, on the phone, or virtually, adding this accomplishment to the long list of positive attributes associated with our district further exemplifies our vision for all constituents.”
Want to join our team? LISD is currently looking for fully certified and alternatively certified teachers, permanent subs and even retired teachers looking to be rehired by the district. Alex Rivera, LISD’s Director of Recruitment & Retention, hosts weekly virtual job fairs every Tuesday evening from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. All interested candidates are invited to attend these sessions and can find additional information and job openings at lisd.net/apply.
