Dear McKamy Families,

Thank you for your votes! We learned Friday that McKamy won Best Public Middle School in Denton County again this year. Ms. Standifer, our reigning McKamy teacher of the year, also won for best teacher. We owe this recognition to our incredible students, families, and staff. We are grateful and honored.

McKamy will join the wave of LISD’s Kindness Week this week. Click the link to see each day’s theme. Our theme for Monday is to wear our Kindness shirts (or any teal, aqua, cyan, or blue shirt); Tuesday is Super Hero day; Wednesday is Pajama Day; Thursday is neon day; and Friday is school colors day. We will also have activities to reinforce kindness in our school community all week. In the link above, you'll see there is a new Kindness Week Art Contest with cash prizes. Kindness shirts may still be ordered using the link below until September 5 at 11:59pm:

This week is the first three week’s progress report (1P1) in Skyward Family Access. Important note for athletes: there is no UIL eligibility check until the six week’s progress report. Skyward is LISD’s official gradebook and Canvas is our Learning Management System. Below are instructions to access your child’s Canvas sites:

HERE you will find the 2021-2022 LISD Academic Calendar. Click HERE for our 2021-2022 McKamy Bell Schedule. This link includes the Tuned-N Tuesday (TNT) schedule that began August 24. TNT includes an Advisory Class between 7th and 8th period to allow students time to complete homework at school and see teachers for tutoring and make-ups when absent. Pep Rallies are on TNT days too. Wednesday and Thursday are block days with Advisory periods at 1:55pm. These Advisory classes are for social-emotional learning or modules to help with time management/organizational skills. This learning is required by the State and/or district. Last week and this week we are learning about time management. All students are given McKamy planners, thanks to donations from our campus fundraiser.

Please send a note with your child or email Ms. Eyer (, McKamy Attendance Clerk, when your child is late or absent. You can find the LISD Pre-Planned Absence Form HERE or on the McKamy Website.

The LISD Covid Call Center (469-444-3558) will be open through the first six weeks of school.  Parents/guardians may call for any questions related to their child's illness or exposure.   Students will receive excused absences with a doctor’s note for sickness due to lab confirmed COVID-19. Temperature for COVID is defined as 100.4.
