The Lewisville Independent School District Board of Trustees met for the regularly scheduled Board Meeting on Monday, September 9

CONSIDER ITEMS DISCUSSED IN CLOSED SESSION

The Board discussed Personnel Recommendations. 

The Board consulted with the Board Attorney. 

The Board discussed Purchase, Exchange and/or Sale or Value of Real Property.

The Board deliberated security devices, security audits or implementation of security personnel.

 

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Forest Vista Elementary students led the pledge of allegiance and Texas pledge.

 

CLOSED SESSION

The Board took action on an item discussed in closed session.

 

PUBLIC COMMENTS

A community member spoke about naming a room in honor of former Board Member, Vernell Gregg.

 

RECOGNITIONS

Flower Mound and Polser Elementary schools and Killian Middle School were recognized by Solution Tree for their success in raising student achievement due to the implementation of the Professional Learning Communities at Work  process.

The Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association announced that Donald, Forest Vista, Garden Ridge, Hicks, Memorial and Peters Colony elementary schools are recipients of the 2023-2024 Student Leadership Award.

PTAs at Bluebonnet, Bridlewood, Ethridge, Garden Ridge, Hebron Valley, Heritage, Hicks, McAuliffe, and Peters Colony elementary schools; Arbor Creek, Durham and McKamy middle schools; and Marcus High School. The PTAs at these schools were recently named a National PTA School of Excellence.

 

SUPERINTENDENT UPDATE

As a part of her update Superintendent Dr. Lori Rapp discussed celebrations, LEF Teacher Grant Day, Assistant Principal U, Friday Night Lights, the decreased tax rate and the anticipated smaller than predicted deficit budget. She also talked about safety and security spending within LISD and information about the Community Efficiency Committee.

 

 LISD Convocation, connections with staff, families, community, and students. She also thanked the Board for their interactions over the summer and discussed the back-to-school preparations happening. She encouraged families to continue to submit recognitions through the Recognize Someone form and to download the LISD mobile app. A brief update was given on the House Public Education Committee. Lastly, she informed the Board about upcoming events and encouraged the community to continue to submit Recognize Someone appreciation cards.

INFORMATION ITEMS

Director of Compliance Dr. Courtney Hart and Director of Substitute Programs Estella Rupard presented the Federal Programs update. Details

Chief of Staff Dr. Shawna Miller presented about the 2025-26 Academic Calendar. Details

Chief Executive Director of Accountability & Evaluation reported that state accountability data has still not been released.

Director of Information Services David Koonce presented the Monthly Technology Report. Details

 

DISCUSSION ITEMS

Chief Financial Officer Scott Wrehe presented the Monthly Financial Report. Details

Dr. Rapp presented about preparation for the 89th Legislative Session. Details

 

ACTION ITEMS

The Board approved the naming of the Degan Elementary Sensory Room the "Vernell Gregg Sensory Room" and the District Improvement Plan.

The Board meeting was adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
