Rachel Garrett Named New Chief of Elementary Schools
Lewisville ISD (LISD) announced June 5 the appointment of Rachel Garrett as the district’s new Chief of Elementary Schools. She takes over for Jaime Clark, who was named superintendent of Henrietta ISD in April.
“I am beyond thrilled to continue to serve the hardworking elementary principals and campuses of LISD in this new capacity as we work together to engage and inspire learners and leaders,” Garrett said. “It is truly an honor.”
Having spent her entire 16-year career with LISD, Garrett most recently served as Director of Elementary Schools for Human Resources, a position she has held since 2021. Prior to moving to district administration, Garrett was principal at Valley Ridge Elementary from 2016-21. Garrett worked in various roles at College Street Elementary for nine years as a teacher, Rtl interventionist/Instructional Coach and an assistant principal.
Throughout her professional career, Garrett has been recognized for her successes having been named LISD’s Assistant Principal of the Year in 2016 and LISD’s Elementary Principal of the Year in 2019. She was also nominated for LISD’s Professional of the Year in 2023.
“Ms. Garrett is a dedicated, respected and proven leader in our district,” LISD Superintendent Dr. Lori Rapp said. “She brings tremendous experience and perspectives that will help all of our campuses.”
In this role, Garrett will be responsible for providing support and leadership to 21 elementary school principals across the district, as well as elementary summer school where she will advise on school operations and leadership. She will join the district’s other Chiefs of Schools - Andy Plunkett, Chantell Upshaw and Rhonda Godbey.
Garrett earned a pair of undergraduate degrees from Northwestern University, a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She obtained her teaching certification through the post-baccalaureate program at the University of North Texas. She earned her Master’s in Education Administration from Concordia University.
