COVID-19 Operational Guidelines Update
LISD families,
As you may be aware, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recently updated its guidance for schools on March 19, 2021. In addition to reviewing this updated guidance, Lewisville ISD continues to be in communication with local, state and national partners regarding COVID-19. While data indicates the number of positive cases within LISD have decreased, our area is still considered to have substantial transmission according to the CDC guidelines.
Given these factors, the district will remain in level orange with modifications and will be required to continue contact tracing and quarantine protocols. We understand the spring season brings celebrations and recognitions to honor our students and staff on our campuses. With that said, the district has taken this under consideration when making modifications to our operational guidelines. We have pulled out a few important updates and included them for you below.
All questions should be directed to your campus.
FACE COVERINGS
Face coverings will continue to be required at all LISD facilities and events per CDC guidelines.
VISITORS
All visitors will be required to wear a face covering and maintain physical distancing. Limited visitors will be allowed on campuses related to the following:
- Fine Arts and Athletics visitors as approved by Fine Arts/Athletics directors.
- PTA executive committee members for volunteer activities.
- Booster Club participation allowed after school hours for volunteer activities.
CLASSROOM PHYSICAL DISTANCING
Desk shields will now be optional per updated CDC guidelines.
IN-PERSON EVENTS
In-person events will be allowed in a limited capacity with physical distancing and face coverings required for the following:
- 5th and 8th grade awards and recognition events
- 12th grade recognitions
- Varsity sport/Performing Arts recognitions for spring sports and activities only
We understand that clubs and organizations are eager to return to holding large events; however, at this time the district is limiting in-person events to the areas listed above only to continue to minimize potential exposure for students and staff along with contact tracing and quarantining.
We appreciate your adherence to LISD’s operational guidelines this school year which has helped keep our schools open for in-person learning. Should there be any further updates to our 2020-21 operational guidelines, we will contact you.
