Family Update | Nov. 2
Lewisville ISD Family,
I come to you today to share a very bittersweet and difficult announcement. I have decided to retire effective January 31, 2022.
I am in my 36th year in Lewisville ISD, and my 41st year of service to education overall. There is never a good time to make this type of announcement - this is hard for me because I love LISD, the people that I work with and the students we serve. Yet, I learned a long time ago that if you wait until you feel like you’ve finished all the work you want to finish, you’ll never be able to move on. I know it is time for me to step aside and allow our Board of Trustees to select LISD’s next leader. I have great faith that each of them will do what is best for this amazing district.
Please know I feel very blessed and I am incredibly grateful that I had the opportunity to serve our students, staff and communities as Superintendent. I have always believed the most significant thing any of us can accomplish is to leave whatever we are doing, wherever we work, better than when we started.
And, I believe that because of our incredible students, families, staff members and community members, I can leave this position knowing LISD is better now than it was seven years ago.
I am so proud of the incredible work our staff does day in and day out to serve our students! LISD absolutely provides limitless opportunities for all of our students, and I’m continually amazed by the incredible work they do.
I have always remained mindful that our parents are their children’s first teachers and they send us their most precious gift, their child, and I’m grateful for the partnership our families and community have with our district.
There is no doubt that my biggest source of pride, my favorite memories, my best experiences...they all revolve around the tremendous relationships I’ve built over the last 36 years. Relationships with students, with families, with community members, and without question, with all of the incredible colleagues I’ve known along the way. It has always been the people that make LISD great, and that will no doubt continue long after I am gone.
It has truly been my honor to serve you throughout my career, and especially these last 7 years as superintendent. I will continue supporting LISD even in retirement! I will miss being part of this organization, but I promise you LISD will always be part of me.
Take care and God Bless...
Kevin Rogers, Ed.D.
