13th Annual Chin Festival Set for February 15
The 13th Annual Chin Festival is scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 15 at Lewisville High School's Stuver Auditorium. The event, which will begin at 6 p.m., is a celebration of Chin culture and recognition of the Chin students that call Lewisville ISD home.
This year's Chin Festival marks the event's 13th iteration, hearkening back to the arrival of Chin families to LISD. Attendees will be treated to samples of traditional Chin dances, music and fashion organized by the LISD Chin Club.
Graduating seniors will also be recognized alongside LISD faculty and staff that have made a positive impact on each student's educational journey.
This year's event will feature keynote speaker Dr. Gene Crume from Judson University. Judson is named for Adoniram Judson, whose missionary work in Burma (Myanmar) significantly impacted Chin life and culture. Representatives from LISD's Chin community met with Dr. Crume in September 2023 to discuss the university's unique connection to Chin culture and opportunities in higher education.
The festival is free and open to the public. Members of the LISD community are encouraged to attend and be immersed in this unique cultural event.
