Barentine Named Principal of B.B. Owen Elementary

Lewisville ISD announces appointment of Mrs. Jennifer Barentine as the new principal of B.B. Owen Elementary.

Jennifer BarentineLewisville ISD announced on May 17 the appointment of Mrs. Jennifer Barentine as the new principal of B.B. Owen Elementary. Barentine currently serves as an assistant principal at Ethridge Elementary, a position she has held for seven years. She takes over for longtime B.B. Owen Principal Jennifer Spitzer, who recently announced her retirement from LISD.

“I am humbled and honored to join the Bobcat family as the new principal at B.B. Owen Elementary,” Mrs. Barentine said. “I look forward to serving the community and continuing to build a love for learning for the students at B.B. Owen.”

Barentine is entering her 28th year in public education, all of which have been right here in LISD. She started her educational career at Heritage Elementary in 1995 and moved to Valley Ridge Elementary in 1996 where she taught many levels for 19 years. In 2015 she moved into campus administration at Ethridge Elementary as assistant principal and has served there ever since. 

“Mrs. Barentine is a dedicated and student-focused leader,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lori Rapp said. “I’m certain the students and staff of B.B. Owen will continue to thrive under her leadership.” 

Barentine received her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of North Texas and a Master’s of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington.
