LISD Board of Trustees recently approved adjustments to the 2020-21 calendar.
LISD Board of Trustees recently approved adjustments to the 2020-21 calendar. Find the 2020-21 calendar here: LISD.net/cal
LISD will discuss any changes for the remainder of the school year on March 1. Start and end times for the 2021-22 school year will be determined later this year.
With these adjustments, LISD has now used three “banked” days:
Nov. 3, 2020 student holiday
Monday, Feb. 15 is now a holiday for both students and staff. Previously designated as a student holiday/professional learning day.
Monday, March 8 is now a student holiday/staff workday
It is important to remember LISD each year banks days to accommodate for school closures due to bad weather. The state requires 75,600 minutes of instruction each year. This year the district felt it was necessary to bank additional minutes in the event the district had to close due to COVID-19. It was also necessary to add minutes to allow time for the increased protocols such as staggered arrival and dismissal times, staggered passing periods, staggered lunches, etc.
As a reminder, we encourage the community to watch our Board meetings, which are recorded and can be viewed at your convenience: lisd.net/Page/276
