LISD Names Cobb New Chief Human Resource Officer

Lewisville ISD announces appointment of Melissa Cobb as new Chief Human Resource Officer.

Lewisville ISD (LISD) announced Sept. 5 the appointment of Melissa Cobb as the district’s new Chief Human Resource Officer.

“Mrs. Cobb will be a great asset to the LISD leadership team,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lori Rapp said. “Her extensive background in human resource management and employee relations, as well as her experience in the classroom, will be beneficial to the district as we continue to hire and retain the best in education.”

Cobb takes over the CHRO role after serving as LISD’s Executive Director of Human Resources since 2020. She will take over for Shelia Smith who will retire from the district at the semester’s end after 33 years of service in public education.

Prior to her role with LISD, Cobb was the Director of Human Resources in Allen ISD from 2019-2020, and served as the Human Resources Coordinator and Assistant Director of Human Resources in Plano ISD from 2012-2019.

Cobb also served in several different roles in the classroom from 1997-2011, teaching 3rd through 5th grade students in Bossier City, LA and Plano ISD before serving as a Campus Instructional Specialist in Plano ISD from 2011-2012.

“Lewisville ISD is an amazing district and I am grateful for the opportunity to work and lead within a well-established department and district to continue LISD’s tradition of excellence for all students and staff,” Cobb said. “I am honored to step into this new role and continue to serve all of our stakeholders within the district and community.”

Cobb received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Louisiana Tech University and her Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas. Her professional affiliations include Texas Association of School Boards, Texas Association of School Personnel Administrators, Texas Association of School Administrators and North Central Texas Association of School Personnel Administrators. In addition, Cobb is currently working towards her Superintendent Certification with Region 4, with an anticipated completion date of May 2024.
