2021-22 Virtual Learning Applications Open
LISD is excited to announce the launching of our first-ever Elementary Virtual Learning Academy (EVLA) for the 2021-2022 school year. The mission of the EVLA is to provide students with connected and collaborative learning experiences that support the whole child to foster future-readiness and academic success.
If you plan to attend school in person next year, you can disregard this email.
We know the in-person learning model best suits a great majority of our students, but we also know many students are thriving in a virtual learning environment and families may still prefer choices in their child’s education due to health and safety concerns for next school year.
With that said, it is our intention to begin the 2021-22 school year in a much more traditional way, what most would consider a “typical” school environment. Effective Monday, June 21, masks will be optional at LISD facilities and some other level orange restrictions that were in place this year will be removed. This plan, and the final decision which will be made just before school starts, is completely dependent on the health-related circumstances in our communities in late July and early August.
We are now accepting applications for EVLA for students entering kindergarten through fifth-grade in the upcoming school year. Applications will be accepted through May 24. A list of FAQs can be found here. Selected students and families will be notified of their acceptance in summer 2021. If you will be attending school in person next year, there is no action to be taken from this email.
*NOTE: Grade levels served in the Elementary Virtual Learning Academy are dependent on current legislation. Applying for the EVLA is a one-year commitment, the entire 2021-2022 academic school year.
