HSVL Family Update | Sept. 21
As we begin another week of virtual learning, there are some important updates and reminders we would like to share with you.
Surveys
LISD has created a survey for you to provide input as we look forward to the second nine weeks of school in virtual learning. Please note, you only need to complete the survey for each child you have in virtual learning. If you have multiple children in virtual learning, you will complete the survey separately for each child. Feel free to complete the survey with your child. You do not need to complete the survey for multiple teachers. Use the link below to take a few minutes to provide your feedback before September 23. This survey may have already been sent to you by your home campus; if you have already filled it out, you do not need to fill it out again. We thank you in advance for your participation.
Learning Pathway Parent Commitment Forms
You should have received an email earlier this week from LISD regarding the Learning Pathway Commitment Forms that are now available in Skyward Family Access. If you do not plan to change your student’s learning pathway for the second nine weeks, you can disregard that email. If you do plan to make a change, forms are due no later than October 2. If you do not complete the form, your child will continue on his/her current learning pathway.
Here are some common technical issues and answers for you as you prepare to indicate your learning pathway preference for the second nine weeks:
- Skyward Password/Login Issues
- Locating the 2nd 9 weeks Learning Pathway Form in Skyward
- Accessing/Submitting the Learning Pathway Change Form
- Editing the Learning Pathway Change Form After Submission
A link to some frequently asked questions regarding learning pathway changes can be found HERE.
Edgenuity Family Access Portal
Parents can now access Edgenuity to help monitor their student’s progress in virtual courses. You should have received information earlier this week on how to set up your Edgenuity Family Access Portal, as well as an activation code. To see specific course content, however, parents should use their student’s log in information. If you need support in getting your account set up, please contact us at HSvirtual@lisd.net or (469) 444-3557 (7:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday).
End of the Six Week Grading Period
The six-week grading period ends this Friday, September 25. Students, including those in the virtual learning pathway, who participate in UIL activities can lose their eligibility if they are not passing their classes. As a reminder, scores on assignments in Edgenuity might not accurately reflect your student’s actual grade in the course. To view official grades, parents should refer to the Skyward grade book. Questions and concerns related to grades and progress can best be addressed by your child’s teachers.
Virtual Learning High School Tips for Success
Lastly, we want to share with you some helpful tips for students when it comes to virtual learning. We encourage you to review these with your student and reinforce routines that will help them be successful virtual students.
