Lewisville ISD Aug. 12 Board Meeting Recap

Aug. 12, 2019 — The Lewisville Independent School District Board of Trustees met for its regularly scheduled Board meeting Monday, Aug. 12. All LISD Board Meetings are streamed live and archived at lisd.net

Below are the meeting highlights: 

AWARDS & RECOGNITIONS

LISD Board Trustee Kronda Thimesch was presented the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Lifetime Leadership Award. Leadership TASB inspires school board trustees to be proactive, visionary leaders who promote educational excellence for all children in Texas public schools.

Forest Vista, Garden Ridge and Peters Colony elementary schools were recognized for earning the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association Student Leadership Award. 

Destination Imagination students from Hebron High School, Creek Valley and Flower Mound 9 were recognized for winning first place at state. 

Hebron High School girls' cybersecurity team won third place in the 2019 National Cybersecurity Competition. 

Huffines Middle School Teacher of the Year Tamara Ostrander was recognized for being named Texas PTA's Secondary Teacher of the Year.

COMMUNITY INPUT
 
The Lewisville Police Department participated in the Community Input portion of the meeting to recognize LISD's Director of Safety and Security Matt Garrett for his partnership and dedication to the safety of all LISD students and staff.
