Camey Elementary | February Teacher of the Month
Jaclyn Lawler of Camey Elementary has been selected as The Colony Chamber of Commerce/DATCU Credit Union February Teacher of the Month – the sixth honoree of the 2018-2019 school year.
Lawler, a first-grade teacher, was honored because of her dedication and energy given each day to her students and school. Her principal says she goes above and beyond by setting a wonderful example of leadership on campus. Lawler is not only a phenomenal educator who creates meaningful learning experiences for her students, but she also helps write curriculum for Lewisville ISD, serves as a Camey Design Team member and has developed several student-teachers over the years. It comes as no surprise that Lawler was also recently named Camey’s Teacher of the Year.
“Being named The Colony Chamber of Commerce’s Teacher of the Month was such a humbling and appreciative moment in my teaching career,” Lawler said. “I am honored that I get to give back to the community that I grew up in and to be recognized for it. I feel incredibly lucky to teach the greatest students, at the greatest school, in the greatest district! Thank you The Colony Chamber of Commerce and DATCU for a day I will always cherish.”
Lawler was honored with the award, which is sponsored by DATCU Credit Union, on Feb. 21 at the Chamber’s monthly luncheon held at The Colony City Hall Annex. DATCU Community Relations Coordinator Mary Jacoby and Chamber Board President David Peerson made the presentation. Lawler was joined at the event by Camey Elementary Principal Angela Cortez.
