Durham Middle School
For the second consecutive year, Durham Middle School has received an unacceptable rating in the state accountability system that is based primarily on STAAR assessments. While this rating does not reflect the dedication, hard work, and heart that our students, staff, and families bring every day, it does require us to take specific steps to strengthen student learning and growth. Because this is Durham’s second consecutive “F” rating, state law requires the district to develop and implement a Turnaround Plan designed to accelerate improvement on the campus.
After reviewing options provided by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), Lewisville ISD will implement a School Improvement model using the Effective Schools Framework at Durham Middle School. Teachers, staff, and campus leaders have already begun working with district support to strengthen classroom instruction and improve student outcomes. The Turnaround Plan builds on this work, providing clear structure, focus, and accountability as we move forward together.
Family involvement is a key part of this process. Research shows that students achieve more when schools and families work in partnership. We encourage parents and guardians to stay engaged, participate in school activities, and support student learning at home. Family involvement helps ensure students stay motivated, take ownership of their education, and reach their full potential.
