FAQ

What if I can’t make it to the bus stop after school to meet my kindergartener or 1st grade child? +

Parents/guardians of kindergarten and 1st grade students are required to be present at the bus stop when their child is dropped off after school. If a parent/guardian or an authorized adult is not present to receive the student, the bus driver will not release the student from the bus. The student will remain on the bus and be returned to their home campus for parent/guardian pickup.

If a parent/guardian is unable to be present, they may complete a Student Release Form to authorize another adult to receive their child at the bus stop. The Student Release Form can be obtained from the Transportation Department and must be completed, submitted to Transportation, and kept on file prior to the authorized adult picking up the student.

Transportation staff will only release a student to an individual who has been designated and approved through the completed Student Release Form. This procedure is in place to ensure the safety and security of our youngest students. Parents/guardians should make arrangements to have an authorized adult available at the scheduled drop-off time each day.

Can my child begin riding immediately after I submit a transportation request? +

No. New transportation requests typically require 3–5 business days to process and route. Once your child has been assigned to a bus route, the Transportation Department will contact you to let you know when your child is approved to begin riding the bus.

Can my child ride if I have not submitted the Bus Rider Contract? +

No. The Bus Rider Contract must be reviewed with your child, signed by the parent/guardian, and returned to your child's campus or emailed to Transportation@lisd.net before your child may begin riding the school bus.

What if my child moves during the school year? +

If your child moves during the school year, please use InfoFinder to determine whether your new address is eligible for transportation services. If your child is eligible, submit a new transportation request through the transportation website so the Transportation Department can assign your child to the appropriate bus route. Please allow 3–5 business days for new routing requests to be processed.

Can my child ride a different bus than the one assigned? +

No. Students may only ride the bus to which they have been assigned. For the safety and accountability of all students, they are not permitted to board a bus for which they have not been routed or authorized.

Can my child ride home with a friend? +

Occasionally, a student may be permitted to ride home with a friend provided all of the following conditions are met:

  • The parent/guardian submits a written request to the student's campus.
  • The request is approved by the campus administration prior to dismissal.
  • There is available seating on the bus.
  • The request is for an occasional circumstance and is not intended as a recurring or daily transportation arrangement.
Can my child be picked up or dropped off at daycare? +

No. Lewisville ISD does not provide transportation to or from daycare facilities.

What if my child leaves personal items on the bus? +

Contact the Transportation Call Center at (469) 713-5983 or email Transportation@lisd.net for assistance.

Can my child be picked up in front of our home? +

No. Bus stops are established by the Transportation Department based on student safety, route efficiency, traffic patterns, and district transportation guidelines. Students are assigned to designated bus stops and are expected to report to their assigned stop each day.

What time should my child be at the bus stop? +

Students should arrive at their assigned bus stop at least 10 minutes before their scheduled pick-up time.
