MS Fine Arts

Art in LISD offers students opportunities to develop and expand visual literacy skills and to apply elements of artistic expression and principles of design to create original artworks. 

Band in LISD offers students an enriched performing arts experience through instrumental Music Education, inclusive of individual and ensemble training on one of ten woodwind and brass instruments (flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe, bassoon, trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba), or percussion (including snare, timpani, and keyboard). Band students may select an instrument and join the band program at the outset of sixth grade, with continued membership and instrumental development affording expanded musical opportunities throughout subsequent years in high school.

NOTE: Students onboard into LISD Band programs in the sixth grade to receive specialized instrumental instruction. Subsequent engagement in the band program includes all woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments in full ensemble settings. 

Choir in LISD offers students an enriched performing arts experiences through vocal Music Education, inclusive of training and development of the students’ natural voice. Students may join choir in the sixth grade or thereafter at the start of each subsequent school year throughout high school, with sequential membership affording expanded musical opportunities.

Orchestra in LISD offers students an enriched performing arts experience through instrumental Music Education, inclusive of individual and ensemble training on one of four string instruments (violin, viola, cello, string bass). Orchestra students may select an instrument and join the orchestra program at the outset of the sixth grade, with continued membership and instrumental development affording expanded musical opportunities throughout subsequent years in high school.

Theatre in LISD offers students an enriched performing arts experience through the introduction of theatrical elements and development of dramatic portrayal through creative expression. Students continuing or entering into the theatre program throughout middle and high school years may engage in expanded theatrical course offerings throughout subsequent years in high school.
