Credit by Exam & Credit by Acceleration

Welcome to the Credit by Examination and Credit by Acceleration testing process. Credit by Exam provides a way for students to receive credit for recovery for loss of credit or grade placement.  Credit by Acceleration provides a way for students to advance in specific core areas or grade level.  Students must be registered in a Lewisville ISD school and attending in order to be eligible to test.

Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade may test to move ahead one grade level through Credit by Acceleration. High school students may earn credit in a course that they have not taken or under certain circumstances may earn credit for a course which they took but for which they did not receive credit. This website is updated periodically as new information is available. Refer back periodically for changes to the calendar and course requirements. To register for testing, the student needs to obtain a testing application(s) from his/her school counselor. Credit by Acceleration provides a way for students to receive credit and advance in a core subject or grade level.  Students must be registered in a Lewisville ISD school and attending in order to be eligible to test.

First Fall Testing:

  • Mon. Sept. 22 - Fri. Sept. 26

 Tues. Sept. 2 at 4:00pm

Second Fall Testing:

  • Mon. Nov. 10 - Fri. Nov. 14

 Tues. Oct. 14 at 4:00pm

First Spring Testing:

  • Mon. Feb. 23- Fri. Feb. 27

 Tues. Feb. 3 at 4:00pm

Second Spring Testing:

  • Mon. Apr. 13 - Fri. Apr. 24

 Tues. Mar. 24 at 4:00pm

Summer Testing (Location will be at Marcus 9th Grade Campus):

  • Mon. June 8 - Fri. June 11  

 Tues. May 12 at 4:00pm


Testing Information and Considerations:

  • Contact your child’s current counselor for acceleration test information and/or to request CBA testing.
  • Parents/guardians may cancel CBA testing without penalty if written cancellation is received by the campus counselor no later than 4:00pm on the Friday after the request window closes. Otherwise, parents/guardians will incur a $25 cancellation fee per exam requested. 
  • Elementary or middle school students accelerating out of core subject areas in order to take courses at the next level campus (middle or high school) will be required to provide their own transportation to and from the middle/high campus.  Enrollment is based on campus openings.
  • High School courses only: Passing grades are posted on the transcript but shall not be used in grade point calculation (GPA) or Rank in Class (RIC).  Advanced Placement (AP) credit cannot be earned by this testing.
  • Reminder: Placement in a new course/grade level will only occur at the start of a school year (or semester for semester courses) regardless of when a CBE for acceleration is taken.
