Board Spotlight: Paige Dixon

Board Spotlight: Paige Dixon

When I transitioned out of the United States Army with my two boys, one of the most important decisions I made was where we would put down roots. I knew I wanted a community where my children could thrive academically, where we could build relationships, and where we could truly feel at home. I spent time researching school districts and communities throughout North Texas, and I ultimately chose Lewisville Independent School District because I believed it was the right place for our family to begin our next chapter.

I had no idea at the time just how deeply LISD would become a part of our story.

We landed at Rockbrook Elementary, and I quickly became involved in our school community. I served as PTA president for two years and helped establish and strengthen the PTA in that space. Over the years, my involvement grew beyond our elementary school. My oldest son, David, participated in the Lewisville band, and I became a proud booster club mom. I also had the opportunity to serve on several committees throughout the district.

But my connection to LISD has always been about much more than volunteering or attending meetings. It has been about the people who have poured into my children and into our family.

My oldest son is now attending the University of Oklahoma, where he is pursuing an engineering degree. When I look at the young man he has become, I think about the LISD teachers, counselors, administrators, and staff members who invested in him along the way. They encouraged him, challenged him, helped us navigate his academic journey, and saw possibilities in him that sometimes I couldn't yet see as a parent.

I see that same investment in my youngest son. His teachers and the staff members who work with him have continued to pour into him, encourage him, and help him grow. And our story includes so many people who may not always get recognized but who have made an enormous difference in our family—from counselors and Communities In Schools staff to the lunchroom ladies, custodial teams, bus drivers, teachers, administrators, and countless others.

They are all part of our story.

They came alongside me as a parent. They helped me navigate the educational system. They celebrated my children's successes, supported us through challenges, and helped create opportunities for my boys to grow into the young men they are becoming.

That is what LISD has meant to my family.

I believe deeply that a school district is more than the buildings where children attend classes. It is a community. It is the teachers who know your child's name, the counselor who checks in when something isn't right, the bus driver who gets your child home safely, the cafeteria staff who greets them each morning, and the countless employees who show up every day because they believe in children.

LISD has embraced my family, and I have watched firsthand what can happen when a community invests in its schools and its children.

That investment is ultimately what led me to want to serve as a trustee.

I chose LISD for my boys because I believed it was a place where they could succeed. Years later, I have the incredible privilege of serving the same community that helped raise them. I don't take that responsibility lightly.

Serving as a trustee is an opportunity for me to give back to a district that has given so much to my family. I want to advocate for our schools, support our educators and staff, listen to our families, and help ensure that every child in LISD has the opportunity to experience the same kind of investment, encouragement, and sense of belonging that my children have experienced.

My boys grew up in LISD.

Now, I get to help serve the community that helped them grow.
