1. Ramy Triki

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
Yale University

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to major in biomedical engineering and create medical devices for developing countries in need. My goal is to do so on a pre-med track and enter medical school upon graduation, although I’m still unsure of which specialty I’d like to pursue.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
There are so many teachers who have made an impact on my life, almost too many to count. If I had to pick one, however, it would be Cheryl Chupe - a US history teacher here at TCHS and my Academic Decathlon coach for the past three years. After somehow making my way into AcDec at the start of sophomore year, my very first week of in-person school since quarantine, Mrs. Chupe took me under her wing and showed me what it means to dedicate myself to a goal and to lead others to do the same, while simultaneously being one of the most supportive and caring people I’ve ever met. Although we’ve had a lot of turnover in AcDec, she’s always been there for me as both a friend and a mentor and it’s thanks to her that I’ve become the confident student, leader, and public speaker I am today. I’ll always be grateful to her for her constant belief and support.

What are your favorite memories of school?
Looking back at the last four years, the memories that stand above the rest are those I spent with friends: the late-night cram sessions in AcDec running through guides and red bulls at a breakneck pace; the StuCo meetings spitballing ideas on how to transform a hotel meeting room into an enchanted garden homecoming scene; and the mid-day McDonald’s lunch breaks after tennis tournaments, exhausted after the matches yet energized by the room full of laughter.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope we’re remembered as a class that forged our own path. In the aftermath of COVID, we brought together traditions both old and of our own creation to create a new high school experience - one that will shape the journeys of our successors for years to come. Although our freshman year looked very different than any other, we thrived in those differences and found ways to connect and excel despite the obstacles ahead, and will continue to do so as we enter the next chapters of our lives.

2. Melissa Huy

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
The University of Texas at Austin

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I intend to major in advertising and pursue a career in advertising/marketing.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
The teacher who impacted me the most is the head varsity cheer coach, Mrs. Heather Jones. Coach Jones created an environment where I could express myself freely and grow into the person I am today. Without her, I would never have learned the importance of integrity, teamwork, and dedication. She provided the structure and support I needed in high school, and as I step into the next chapter of my life, I will always remember the values she instilled in me.

What are your favorite memories of school?
What I will always remember from TCHS is the friends and connections I have made along the way. I have shared many great laughs and sentimental moments with my friends, and I will cherish those memories forever. Whether it was just Friday Night Lights or a regular science class, those memories are only special because of the people I shared them with.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope the Class of 2024 is remembered for our vibrant spirit, determination, and bravery. We started high school at the peak of a pandemic and persevered through the obstacles that arose with it. Even though change was occurring rapidly, we strived to bring enthusiasm back into TC.

3. Alexander Begg 

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
The University of Texas at Austin      

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans? 
I plan to major in medical laboratory science and pursue clinical laboratory work following my undergraduate graduation. I will then move on to attend medical school so I may become a private practice psychiatrist.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why? 
Mrs. Curran Meyer has been a mentor for me since I was in 6th grade, and I would not be the student I am today without her influence and guidance. She taught me to traverse adversity with resilience and a steady voice, and I am forever grateful that she was a part of my middle and high school academic career.

What are your favorite memories of school? 
My fondest memories of school are those where I am surrounded by my friends. I will always smile when I think of the time we spent in the library together, attended football games with one another, or randomly saw each other in a Kohl's. 

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024? 
I hope the Class of 2024 is remembered as trailblazers, academic weapons and liabilities, and an intelligent and mindful class overall.

4. Gregg Brashear

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
Southern Methodist University    

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
Getting a business degree in Finance, and becoming a consultant    

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Curry Goff, Biology and AcDec    

What are your favorite memories of school?
Going on Academic Decathlon trips and staying in San Antonio. Receiving my Gold Medal in Language Literature in the 21-22 AcDec Season was my favorite memory of school.    

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope to remember the Class of 2024 as kind people who worked hard to achieve their goals.

5. Michelle Lee

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
The University of Texas At Austin

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to major in finance, minor in accounting on a pre-law track to become a corporate lawyer.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Curry Goff, my freshman AP Biology teacher, impacted me the most. Mr. Goff was my first-period teacher during virtual learning and although our learning was limited due to our lessons being through Webex, Mr. Goff provided the best interactive lecture possible. Additionally, I could physically see the efforts he was putting in to ensure we were fully understanding the material. At the end of the year, Mr. Goff reached out to me convincing me to take AP Chemistry next year. I was hesitant because I was worried I would struggle and that would take my chances away from being valedictorian or salutatorian. I did very poorly in AP Chemistry which kicked me out of the top ten. However, today I thank Mr. Goff for convincing me to take AP chemistry even with the chance that I could do badly because this “failure” I experienced once, shaped my entire high school career. I worked so hard over the past two years to bring myself up and I did not become valedictorian or salutatorian but I gained an irreplaceable work ethic, mindset, determination, and 5th in rank. 

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memory of school was when I competed in the Academic Decathlon during Junior year. It was so hard with tests almost every day, memorizing 40 pages of information at a time, but the moment your hard work pays off at competitions and winning the medals was the best feeling for me. Even the 5-hour drive back and forth for state felt like 30 minutes with my teammates because we were all in it together.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope history remembers the Class of 2024, as one of the most hardworking and determined students of all time. And that our class is filled with inspiring individuals who will make a change in our world and leave a positive impact. I hope the Class of 2024 is remembered as leaders and competitors who have good character.

6. Savannah McClincey

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
Texas Woman’s University

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
Instrumental Music Education, become an elementary or high school music teacher. 

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Mrs. Tracy Jobst, she taught math up until this year when she retired. She was my advisory and Algebra 2 teacher, so I saw her a lot. She became the teacher I trusted with anything— my highest highs and lowest lows. She welcomed me with open arms everyday, and I felt at home in her class.

What are your favorite memories of school?
Band performances, like marching shows and concert performances. Working together with a team of people to create something great is really inspiring, because everyone’s contribution matters. Looking back at where we started after seeing where we’ve come is exciting, and I could never get sick of that feeling.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope history remembers the Class of 2024 as one that left a positive mark, despite the challenges sent our way. Starting high school in the midst of a global pandemic was rough, but our caps and gowns are a testament to the fact that we made it! I hope my younger friends remember us as a great example of what they want to be like going forward.

7. Marlo Slater

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
Stephen F. Austin State University

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to major in nursing. I’d like to use my degree to work with special needs students in the healthcare field.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Mattie Drackett, Life Skills (Special Needs) Teacher. Mrs. Drackett impacted my high school career by showing me how to communicate and understand special needs students through compassion, empathy, and kindness. Thanks to how Mrs. Drackett interacted with her students, I have a passion and inspiration for my future career working with special needs individuals. 

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memory at The Colony High School would be the Grand Ball. Grand Ball is an event hosted by the Life Skills program. In which students from TCHS are paired with special needs students. I had so much fun dancing with my buddies and helping them to experience a special night dedicated to making memories.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope history remembers the Class of 2024 as a hard-working class. A class that didn’t stop even though we started our high school careers in a pandemic. Our first year of high school was like no other experience. However, the Class of 2024 still made it enjoyable and memorable as we did with the rest of our high school years.

8. Macey Rodriguez

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
The University of Texas at Dallas

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
Neuroscience (BS); I plan to become a neurosurgeon.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
I've had many stellar teachers over the years, and I wish I had time to highlight each one. They've all made me the strong individual I am today, and I'm deeply grateful for their influence. If I had to pick, I'd choose my English teacher, Adam Lowber, as the teacher who impacted me the most. I first met him in junior year for the PSAT practice class. His jocose attitude and enthusiasm for all things English were impossible not to share, and he made me look forward to all those arduous practice SATs and early Saturdays. He convinced me to join his AP Literature class in my senior year (although I didn't need much convincing), and I can't express how glad I am that I took it. He opened my reading tastes to the fantastic world of classic literature and expanded my interpretation and writing of poetry. After all his teaching, my vocabulary is copious, and my mind is incisive. Thank you, Mr. Lowber, for all the laughs, whale stamps, and erudition you've given me.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite school memories include the big moments, but the small things stick with me. Every silly conversation with my friends at lunch, every good book I read, and every passing smile in the hallway fill my heart with joy as I recall my time in high school. I hope to continue making these little moments, stirring up a bit of kindness wherever possible.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope history remembers the class of 2024 as inspiring, driven, and passionate leaders. Through our four years together, we grew from quarantined freshmen to mature young adults ready to face life's challenges. I'm honored to be a part of such a wonderful and diverse group of students, and I know that we'll continue striving for greatness even after leaving high school behind. You'll never forget The Colony High School's class of 2024!

9. Sydney Diep

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
Texas A&M University- College Station

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
Architecture. Architect drafter for commercial buildings. 

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Lee Ann Richardson (Art) because she was my elementary art teacher who really inspired me to pursue my passion in art.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories from high school were attending school events, such as football games, with my friends.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope people remember the Colony High School’s Class of 2024 as the class that created new school traditions for many years to come.

10. Lena Slater

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
Stephen F. Austin

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
Biology

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Gregory Kulle- Honors Physics. Mr. Kulle had a significant impact on me because he encouraged and pushed me to strive for greatness and competence in his class. His class was something I thought I would fail at  yet I didn't because of his fantastic hands on learning labs. His class taught me self-discovery and motivated me to work hard and seek success. I’m a better student because of  his rigorous assignments and I appreciate Mr. Kulle for that.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite school memory is being with the cross-country team at cross-country meets. I really enjoyed these times because the whole team encourages and motivates athletes to give it their all during their race. It's a fantastic thing to watch and be a part of.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I want history to remember the Class of 2024 as lively and spirited. My class brings the buzz and excitement found at school events and I want history to recognize that passion for school spirit.
