Ms. Janda McQueen

Ms. McQueen was born in Midland, Texas and moved all over Texas during her school years.  She finished high school in Mason, TX.  She is the daughter of an educator and an athletic director!  In high school she was involved in cheerleading, basketball, tennis, track, cross country, One Act Play, UIL, and Student Council.  From Mason, she moved to Austin and worked as a Student Athletic Trainer for the University of Texas Football and Track teams.  She has always had a love of education, technology, and sports.

She graduated from The University of Texas in Austin with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology (Sports Medicine focus) and Youth and Community Studies in 2005.  She worked for a year in Atlanta, Georgia at Clark Atlanta University as an Assistant Athletic Trainer, and took classes at Georgia State University to further her career.  After some time out of her home state, she came back to Texas, moved to the DFW area in 2007, and started teaching and coaching in Wylie, Texas while finishing her Master’s of Business Administration at American Intercontinental University.

Ms. McQueen started working for LISD in 2008 as a Social Studies teacher.  Ms. McQueen is involved in the Campus Design Team, iPad Team, Professional Learning Committee, and is currently the UIL Coordinator.  She is also the Apple Campus Mentor, an Apple Learning Specialist, and a Google Certified Educator.  She has a son named Vion, who keeps her on her toes!  In addition to being a teacher, Ms. McQueen loves the outdoors, crafting, traveling and spending time with family!
