Mrs. Kim Beene
Kimberly Beene has been teaching since 2007 and is starting her second her at Arbor Creek. She previously taught in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, Hays CISD, Leander ISD and Richardson ISD. Ensembles under her direction have consistently received UIL “Sweepstakes” awards and have been named “Best In Class” at various music festivals in Texas. In 2017, the Heritage Middle School Honors Band was selected by the Foundation for Music Education as a Commended Winner in the Mark of Excellence National Wind Band Honors Project.
Mrs. Beene graduated Summa Cum Laude and received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Texas State University. Her primary instrument is the flute. During her time at Texas State, Mrs. Beene was a drum major for the Bobcat Marching Band, member of the Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra for four years, and was awarded the Outstanding Senior in Instrumental Education by the music education faculty.
Mrs. Beene is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Sigma Alpha Iota, and the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society.
Mrs. Beene is an active member of the professional music education community. She has presented clinics at various professional conferences, including the Texas Music Education Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association conventions, and at the Young Educators Seminar at SMU. Mrs. Beene resides in Carrollton with her husband Phil (a percussion instructor in Frisco ISD) and their cats Widget and Torchy.
