Miss Alissa Wood
Hey there! I’m Alissa Wood and I am a Special Education SDI Stategist for grades K-2 here at Donald. I am also a STEM Certified Teacher.
I believe that all children learn best through hands-on learning experiences and access to flexible seating opportunities. I enjoy teaching Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) and creating activities that are multi-sensory and stimulate learning through games and exploration. It’s so rewarding when I see my students having fun learning and exploring skills inside and outside my classroom.
Big things are always happening in my classroom and I can’t wait to see what this school year brings! Let the adventures begin!
A Little About Me:
I grew up in Flower Mound, TX and attended all LISD schools from 4th-12th grade! I received my Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology degree from the University of North Texas as well as a Graduate Certificate in Autism Intervention from Toulouse Graduate School at UNT. After working as an In-Home Applied Behavior Analysis Therapist, I decided I wanted to live out my passion for working with children and apply my skills in a school setting, so I got my teacher certifications. I live in Flower Mound with my two Toy Fox Terriers, Kato and Sophie. I spoil them rotten! When I’m not teaching, you will find me shopping at Target or being outdoors with my dogs. Some of my hobbies include exercising, cooking, and doing DIY projects. I also love cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, watching movies, and spending time with my friends and family.
