The TEAMS (Teaching for Emotional, Academic, and Motivational Success) program is a therapeutic environment within LISD that focuses instruction on teaching pro-social responses to maladaptive behaviors. While students in TEAMS receive all of their instructional needs from the TEAMS teachers, there is a thread of social skills instruction that is woven throughout each academic content.
Typically, students in TEAMS require a high level of structure and consistent behavior management procedures to succeed in the school setting. Students are identified through SITP (Student Intervention Team Planning) process for the TEAMS program when behaviors have regressed to a degree that they are hindering their education progression despite reasonable attempts in less restrictive environments. TEAMS is not designed to be a permanent placement as the overall goal is to modify behaviors and strengthen the skills necessary for each student to maintain success on their home campus.
