Prospective candidates for membership in the National Honor Society must have a cumulative GPA of 99.0 or higher with one full semester residence at TCHS. Students with the required scholastic average are asked to complete a Student Activity Form. Students are expected to have participated in community service activities and show outstanding qualities of leadership, character, and service. The details for selection are in the TCHS Student handbook. By national organizations rules, ninth grade students are not eligible for consideration.
The National Honor Society is the front-runner of organizations that promote recognition for students who reflect outstanding accomplishments in the area of scholarship, character, leadership, and service. The TCHS National Honor Society Chapter is an active organization. Community service and GPA are criterion for selection and continued membership.
The purpose of The Colony High School National Honor Society is to recognize and encourage academic achievement and to develop characteristics essential to citizens in a democracy, including service, leadership, and character. It also strives to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership and to develop character in individuals.
