The Flower Mound chapter of National English Honor Society is a national honor and service organization that seeks to promote literacy, fellowship, and community involvement. Some of the activities our members enjoy are Homecoming (decorating and carnival), author events/speakers, Book Club meetings, attending school plays, writing contests, book drives, holiday gift drives, Kindness campaign, monthly socials and various other events. NEHS operates on a point system, which means students are not required to attend all events, but instead earn points for participating in events of their choosing. Students need to earn 25 points in a school year in order to maintain an active membership. Students will also have the opportunity to be elected to leadership positions within the organization.
All students in grades 10-12 are eligible, according to the following requirements:
- 3.3 minimum GPA (unweighted overall)
- English grade average of 90 in previous on-level English classes; OR
- English grade average of 85 in previous Pre-AP/AP/Dual-Credit English classes
- Desire to participate
To join, the student must print out a transcript and bring it to the appropriate sponsor for approval. Once the sponsor has approved the transcript, the student will receive an invitation packet that includes an application form, list of requirements, and links to join. Membership dues are $25 per year; this may be paid online through Revtrak.
The deadline for registration and payment for the 2019-20 school year is Friday, September 27, 2019.
