Mrs. Patricia J Davis

Mrs. Davis is an 7th and 8th grade language arts teacher. She is certified to teach English/English Language Arts, and Speech/Drama. She has taught for 20 years at Lakeview teaching Drama, Speech, 8th Grade English, 7th Grade English, 7th and 8th Grade LEAP English, 7th Grade English Language Arts, 7th Grade LEAP English Language Arts, and 8th Grade English Language Arts.

Mrs. Davis believes that students must set goals for their own learning to help them take ownership in their education, pursue challenging opportunities, and to help them seek out community and parent support to expand their learning. She believes that when a student is pursuing a goal that he or she sets, that students will find their work in class is more meaningful and relevant.

Mrs. Davis received her bachelor's degree from Cameron University with a degree in Drama and Speech and a minor in English and Instrumental Music along with her secondary teaching certification. During college she was active on her college's nationally ranked speech and debate team, marching and concert band, and various theatre performances, including Three Penny Opera, a student directed showcase, and an original production written by the faculty. She moved to Texas in 1982 and attended North Texas State University (now University of North Texas) and Brookhaven College to pursue her Texas teaching certification. She has attended LEAP and Pre-AP training as well as the New Jersey Writing Project and the North Star of Texas Writing Project. Every summer she attends several district taught technology education classes to be able to infuse her classroom with technology.

Mrs. Davis grew up as an "Army Brat" moving from base to base with her family. She graduated from James I. O'Neill High School in Highland Falls, New York and was active in her school's band and theatre programs. After graduating, her family moved to Germany, where she spent her summers during college. She loves to travel, sew, read, remodel and redecorate her house, play the flute, and discovered she also enjoys making homecoming mums.
