Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to my webpage. I am the Family and Consumer Sciences teacher at Lakeview Middle School.
My family has lived in The Colony for the last 15 years. My husband and I have two children. One attends The Colony High School and the other is a student here at Lakeview Middle School. We have a love of great food, good times, and travel! I am excited to share a classroom with our students of today in hopes of preparing them for a successful future!
The FCS department offers courses for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.
6th- Skills for Living
7th- Exploring Careers
8th- Principles of Human Services- high school credit course
Family & Consumer Sciences courses teach students to make responsible decisions and develop positive relationships.
Students use critical and creative thinking skills to address major concerns of the family: relationships, human growth and development, health, consumer economics and careers. In FCS courses, students learn to manage the challenges of living and working in a diverse global society.
In addition to teaching the Famiy and Consumer Sciences courses, I also sponsor a club called FCCLA- Family, Career, and Community Leaders of Amercia. FCCLA is a service organization that also focuses on the family and provides students with skills to be dynamic leaders. We meet every other Wednesday in room 215 before and after school. Students interested in joining FCCLA can come by and see me and I will let them know how to get involved.
After growing up in Nacogdoches, Texas I decided to attend Stephen F. Austin State University. I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences Education. SFA has a beautiful campus, many wonderful programs including education and sports, and is not too far away from The Colony. Definitely one to add to your list when thinking about colleges to attend!
I look forward to a wonderful year and please do not hesitate to contact me. The best way to contact me is through e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any help.
