Principal's Message

  • My name is Adam Gray and I'm thrilled to begin another school year at Vickery ES! We have a passionate, hard-working staff and an absolutely wonderful group of students. Whether you are returning to Vickery, new to our campus, or just reading up on us, I'd love to discuss any questions or issues you may have.

Vickery has a special spirit about it, one that I'm proud to be a part of. Our diversity and eagerness to serve children of all backgrounds make Vickery a welcoming place. Our House system helps students form bonds with peers and staff members, in addition to creating some healthy competition as each House strives to earn the House Cup each nine weeks. Finally, we have a very supportive PTA that partners with us to provide dynamic experiences and resources for all of our students.

About me... Before coming to Vickery, I was principal at another LISD school — Polser Elementary — for 3.5 years. I previously served as an assistant principal at Peters Colony Elementary and Hedrick Elementary for a combined 3.5 years. Prior to that, I was a third-grade bilingual teacher at Hedrick for 3 years, and was also a bilingual teacher in both Castleberry ISD and the Washington DC Public Schools. I have some international experience as well, having taught in Chile and Japan for a combined 4.5 years. Soy bilingüe y me encanta comunicar con los niños y los padres en español.

I am from Ohio originally and earned my bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University. I have a master’s degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from American University in Washington, D.C. and another in Educational Leadership from University of Texas at Arlington. All told, I have been in education for more than 20 years, more than half of those in LISD.

Please do not hesitate if you have any questions or concerns. Go Voyagers!

    Sincerely,
    Adam Gray
