I am excited to introduce myself to you. My name is Adam Gray, and I am thrilled about the opportunity to be the new Vickery Elementary Principal. Vickery has a tremendous reputation as a school full of amazing students, supportive parents, and incredibly hard-working and dedicated staff members, and I look forward to seeing that for myself! I can’t wait to partner with you and plan together how we can take Vickery to even greater heights!
Prior to accepting the position at Vickery, I was principal at another Lewisville ISD school — Polser Elementary — for 3.5 years. I have served as an assistant principal at Peters Colony Elementary and Hedrick Elementary, which are both Dual Language campuses. Prior to that, I was a third-grade teacher in a bilingual classroom at Hedrick for 3 years, and was also a bilingual teacher in both Castleberry ISD and the Washington DC Public Schools. I have some international experience as well, having taught in Chile and Japan for a combined 4.5 years. Soy bilingüe y estoy emocionado de regresar a una escuela de lenguaje dual.
I am from Ohio originally and earned my bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University. I have a master’s degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from American University in Washington, D.C. and another in Educational Leadership from University of Texas at Arlington. All told, I have been in education for 20 years, the last 10 of which in LISD.
I am thankful LISD asked me to lead Vickery Elementary for so many reasons. The challenges and opportunities we face as a dual language campus and serving a very diverse student body, are the reasons I entered education in the first place. I will be reaching out to you soon to find out what you think Vickery’s strengths and needs are. I can’t wait to work with our students, families and teachers to build upon the already strong culture and climate at Vickery.
I hope you and your families enjoy the summer break, and I can’t wait to get started with our new adventure together in August.
