Dear Farmer Family,
I want to take this opportunity to officially welcome you to Lewisville High School Killough! High school is such an exciting time, and I look forward to working together to make your child’s 9th and 10th grade year the very best it can be. Welcome back to our 10th grade parents and welcome aboard to our new parents and 9th graders. You are joining a tight knit community filled with Farmer Pride and support for you and your child.
If you would, please take a minute to familiarize yourself with the wonderful LHS Killough web page at http://lisd.net/lhskillough. Here you will find a wealth of information related to our school: the opening of the new school year, school supplies, block lunch, football spirit days, Farmer sports’ schedules, and many other types of information about upcoming events at LHS Killough. Our website is updated regularly and is the quickest way for students and parents to find information about upcoming events at LHS Killough.
Please “friend” us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter (@LHSKillough) so that you can stay connected to what’s going on at LHS Killough. In addition, please be sure to update your contact information for emails and phone calls home through “Skyward Family Access.” This allows you to receive information from the school messenger phone system. I communicate weekly with parents, via email and phone calls, to keep you up to date and involved in the great things going on at LHS Killough.
LHS Killough Orientation
We will have our Freshman Orientation on Tuesday, July 30, from 1:00-3:00 pm. We hope you and your child can join us for a fun-filled afternoon of presentations on expectations at LHS Killough, opportunities to meet the administrative team, information on clubs, and tours of the building, so that your child is set for an amazing start to high school. We will have the cheerleaders, band, student council and PTA to assist with getting everyone excited and ready for the new school year! You are also welcome to tour the building, take pictures, and meet our administration and counselors at this time.
In addition to the afternoon orientation, we will also offer a 5:45-6:45 pm orientation for parents on July 30. The evening orientation will only include the campus information necessary for the start of the school year. Clubs and student groups will not be available for the evening presentation.
Because our counselors are working diligently on finalizing the master schedule, student schedules will not be available during orientation, but they will be available to view in Skyward on Friday, August 9. Students will receive a hard copy of their schedule when they arrive to campus for the first day of school, Tuesday, August 13. See the attached notice from our counselors for more information regarding schedule changes.
Skyward Help Day – Forms Due
Please remember that your child’s informational forms are required to be updated for each 9th and 10th grade student attending LHS Killough for the 2019-2020 school year. The deadline for completing these forms is Friday, August 30.
All necessary forms can be found under the Skyward link on the LISD website and may be completed at your convenience. Should you need Internet access or other help to complete them, please see the options below:
- Skyward help is available in our computer lab on Tuesday, July 30, during orientation.
You are welcome to contact Lisa Houpy at 972-350-4505 if you need help via phone or if you are not able to come in person.
Students who wish to participate in the 1:X program and have a district-owned iPad must pay an annual insurance fee. Fees will be loaded into Skyward within the next couple of weeks and must be paid in order for students to be issued an iPad or to keep their current one. Replacement and repair costs for iPads damaged are charged to the student’s Skyward account unless this fee is paid. Fees can be paid online through Skyward or in the LHS Killough office. The deadline to pay the annual technology fee is Friday, August 30. Please visit http://lisd.net, click on the Resources tab, then “For Parents” for more information and the 1:X handbook.
