    LISD Spelling Bee
    LISD's 2020 Spelling Bee winner is Swayam Rath from Killian Middle School and the first runner-up is Krithi Gannamaneni from Forestwood Middle School. See their winning picture on LISD's Facebook Page here

    AWFS Fair Student Competition
    During the summer, 2019 Flower Mound High School/Dale Jackson Career Center graduate Kyle Hassett won first place in the AWFS Fair Student Competition's High School "Sports and Games" category for his poker table. Learn more about it here

    FMHS Technology Club Receives Recognition
    The Flower Mound High School Technology Club students were recognized this summer by the Texas Senate, House and the Town of Flower Mound for dominating world robotics competitions last school year.

    FMHS Tech Club
    Jaguar robotics Team 4192 competed in the NTX Tournament of Robots and finished in 13th place qualifying for the 6th-seeded alliance to compete in the playoffs. For the second year in club history, FMHS' all-girls competition team competed in the STEMGals offseason tournament. With one of the largest all-girls team competing, FMHS STEMGals team ranked 9th place qualifying for the 7th-seeded alliance for the quarterfinals.

    Girls Go CyberStart Competition
    Hebron High School girls' cybersecurity team won third place in the 2019 National Cybersecurity Competition. Learn more here.

    National Merit and Hispanic Program Honorees
    The district is proud to announce 296 high school seniors were recently recognized for their outstanding academic achievement in The National Merit Scholarship Program and National Hispanic Recognition Program. See the complete list here

    Teen Animation Festival International 2019
    Congratulations to TECC-East student Morgan McGrath who won The Walt Disney Family Museum Oustanding Animation Award for their animation "The Wolf and the Rabbit." In addition, the same animation won second place in the Pegasus Film Festival for high school students in Dallas. See TECC-East animation creations here

    TESPA Student Leadership Award
    Forest Vista, Garden Ridge and Peters Colony elementary schools were recognized for earning the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association Student Leadership Award. 

    Texas Destination Imagination
    Destination Imagination students from Hebron High School, Creek Valley and Flower Mound 9 were recognized for winning first place at state. 

    University of North Texas Tournament

    Texas Music Educator Association
    59 high school band, choir and orchestra students earned placement into and performed with 2020 TMEA All-State Music organizations.

    TMEA Invited Honor Ensembles
    MHS Percussion Ensemble and Forest Vista Elementary Honor Choir performed as invited ensembles at the 2020 TMEA Convention in San Antonio.

    Midwest Band & Orchestra Clinic
    Killian MS Band and the Arbor Creek MS Saxophone Ensemble performed as an invited ensembles at the 2019 Midwest Band & Orchestra Clinic.

    UIL State Theatrical Design

    ADDITIONAL HONORS

    Bands of America Dallas/Fort Worth Regional Championship
    Flower Mound, Hebron and Marcus High Schools claimed the top three places in the 2019 Bands of America Dallas/Fort Worth Regional Championship. FMHS took first place, HHS second and MHS third.

    Bands of America 2019 Grand National Championships
    Hebron High School Marching Band recently won the bronze medal and the Outstanding Music caption in the 2019 Bands of America Grand National Championships. See Hebron's performance video here and pictures here

    Bands of America 2019 San Antonio Super Regional Championship
    The following high schools for placing in the Top 10 at the Bands of America 2019 San Antonio Super Regional Championship: Hebron High School (5th place); Marcus High School (6th place); and Flower Mound High School (9th place).

    Dallas Cowboy Celebrity Chefs
    The Colony High School's Culinary Arts students took second place in the Dallas Cowboys Celebrity Chef competition. Students competed by cooking, preparing and serving a signature recipe during a Dallas Cowboys home game at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

    National Band Association
    The Arbor Creek Middle School Band earned the National Band Association's 2019 Program of Excellence distinction — the only middle school program in Texas to be selected.

    National PTA Schools of Excellence
    Donald, Flower Mound, Garden Ridge, Heritage, Indian Creek, and Timber Creek elementary schools and Hedrick Middle School were named 2019-2021 National PTA Schools of Excellence.

    NBC 5 High School Football Player of the Week
    The Colony High School senior Mikey Harrington II was named the NBC 5 High School Football Player of the Week for his performance vs. Frisco Reedy High School.

    Pan Am Softball Championship
    Marcus High School student Haidyn Sokoloski played softball for Team USA in the U-17 Women’s Pan American Softball Championship. The team came home with the gold medal. 

    Scripps National Spelling Bee
    McKamy Middle School 7th-grader Abhijay Kodali was one of the eight co-champions in the 2019 Scripps National Spelling Bee.

    TESPA Student Leadership Award
    Forest Vista, Garden Ridge and Peters Colony elementary schools were recognized for earning the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association Student Leadership Award.

    The First Tee at Pebble Beach
    Hebron High School student golfer Symran Shah recently competed in the First Tee at Pebble Beach in Dallas. 

    TMEA All-State Roster
    Students from Flower Mound, Hebron, Lewisville, Marcus and The Colony high schools were named to the 2020 TMEA All-State Roster.

    TMEA Honor Orchestra
    The Flower Mound High School String Orchestra earned State Finalist status in the TMEA Honor Orchestra submission process, finishing 8th in the state of Texas.

    UCA Regional Cheer Competition
    Marcus High School Varsity cheerleaders claimed first place in the UCA Regional Cheer Competition. 

    US Bands Burleson Showcase
    Lewisville High School took home second place in the USBands Burleson Showcase with a final score of 87.2.

    Texas School Counselor Association named Garden Ridge Elementary counselor Emily Mennsfield the 2019-2020 Elementary School Counselor of the Year; Garden Ridge Assistant Principal Lee Worden as the 2019-2020 Counselor Advocate of the Year, and LISD Director of Guidance and Counseling Monya Crow the 2019-2020 Counseling Supervisor of the Year. 

    Coyote Ridge, Degan, Donald, Garden Ridge, Hebron Valley, Highland Village, Indian Creek, Lewisville, McAuliffe, Morningside, Prairie Trail, Hicks, Wellington, Downing, Griffin, Huffines, Killian, Lamar, FMHS, Hebron 9, HHS, LHS, Harmon, Killough, MHS and TCHS were named the Texas School Counselor Association's 2019 Counselors Reinforcing Excellence in Texas - CREST Award Recipients.

    Tech Titans
    LHS Killough math teacher Leigh Ann Mitchell was named the 2019 Tech Titans of the Future - High School Math/Science teacher of the year. Learn more about Mitchell here.     Huffines Middle School Teacher of the Year Tamara Ostrander was recognized for being named Texas PTA's Secondary Teacher of the Year. 

    Texas School Resource Officer of the Year
    The Colony High School's School Resource Officer Omar Montemayor was named the 2019 Texas School Resource Officer Association SRO of the Year. 

    University of North Texas Athletics Hall of Fame
