• Hi parents!

I hope all is well with you and your families at this time. I miss your students so much! I want to keep you updated on what to expect from the School Counseling program during this time of At-Home Learning. Please know that you can contact me if you have questions or concerns.

    What to Expect

I will be available to meet with students, support teachers, and conference with parents during the time of At-Home Learning. If we continue to have a lengthy period of school closures, I will also plan to implement small groups, individual meetings, and Social Emotional Lessons.

    What will that look like?

To be honest, I don’t know yet! The LISD Guidance and Counseling department is working tirelessly to ensure that you and your students have access to campus counselors. As we create the foundation to this temporary way of life, I will keep you updated.

How can I get in touch with Mrs. Moore?

I will be accessible from 7:45 am - 3:45 pm just as I would any typical school day. However, I have set some specific office hours  where I can answer phone calls and emails. My office hours will be 9:00- 11:00 am and 1:45- 3:45 pm.

If you or your student would like to make an appointment with me simply complete the Counselor Appointment Form. I will make contact with you within 24 hours.

    What resources can you provide?

Check out my website Moore Counseling Site for weekly updates on resources for your family and students. Specifically the Parent Resources tab, Student Resources, and At Home Learning tabs.

I will be sending out a “Mondays with Mrs. Moore” video and/or Social Emotional Activity Choice Board beginning Monday, March 30th. Please send me pictures of your family engaging in the activities! Email, Twitter, or Instagram!

Additionally, feel free to make an appointment with me to discuss additional needs as well.

    Things to remember:

    • Student and family confidentiality are my priority. My workspace will be flexible to meet those needs. I am home with my family members (which includes three children) so it may be times I have to briefly step away from calls to address a family matter.
    • I love to hear from students! If your child requests to speak to me, please do not hesitate to help them to facilitate contact. Supporting kids is my favorite aspect of my role.
    • This is an interesting time in the world. You and your child’s feelings are real. You are allowed to be fearful, to have rest, and to take a break.

I look forward to supporting your families during this time. I am especially hopeful that I will see their faces in the hallways of Degan soon.
