    FREE MEALS FAQ

    1. Does my child have to be free or reduced-pay status to get free meals?
Because of LISD Child Nutrition’s partnership with the USDA, all children age 18 and under are eligible for free meals and will be served. Children do not have to be LISD students to receive a meal. Adults do not qualify for meal service at these locations.

    2. Can we pick up a breakfast AND lunch meal at one time?
Students will receive two (2) meals at the time of pick-up — lunch, and a breakfast for the next day.

    3. How were these sites chosen?
LISD and Child Nutrition worked very closely to pick campuses that are centrally located in their municipalities to reach as many students as possible.

    4. My child has remaining funds in his/her account. What will happen to this money for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year?
Any remaining funds left on your student's account will roll over to the 2020-2021 school year. If you would like to process a refund for account balances, or if you would like to donate remaining funds to a student account in need, please submit a request form. Please note, refunds usually take 2-3 weeks to process but can take longer due to current circumstances.

    5. As a parent, community member and/or LISD employee, will I be able to volunteer to help with food service?
We do not anticipate needing any volunteers for meal service at this time. Our trained food service staff will be making and serving meals.

    6. Who can I contact with questions?
If you have any questions, please contact LISD Child Nutrition at cn@lisd.net.

    7. Are there options available for dinner meals and/or weekend meals?
Beginning, Friday, May 1, students will receive weekend meals at all 14 serving locations. Weekend meals include a breakfast and lunch for Saturday and Sunday. See weekend meals reheating instructions above.

Also, Lovepacs is doing amazing work and is sending out nearly 1,000-weekend, shelf-stable food packs for families to pick up at the LISD free meal locations. If you would like to volunteer your time or make a donation to Lovepacs, please visit these links:
