What can I expect from the HESI exam?
The Health Education System Inc. (HESI) Exam is required for all firefighter candidates. The test costs approximately $40. Candidates that are invited to continue the process after the LISD review process will receive information about the one-time administration that will be offered at LHS. If students are not able to attend this administration of the exam, they must schedule a time at NCTC to take the test. If students do not pass the first administration, one retest can be scheduled at NCTC. The test will take around 1 ½ hours. The test is not timed. You will only be tested on the Reading Comprehension and Math sections of the exam. An online calculator, pencils, and paper will be provided. The exam will be proctored by staff from NCTC. You may bring a snack if needed. Please be courteous to other testers and choose something that can be eaten quietly.
How do I prepare for the HESI exam?
We encourage you to use the online practice materials as a review for the content assessed on the exam. Students can find study guides once they create the account and pay for the test
