Catherine McIntosh

Hello! I LOVE being an SDI teacher (specially designed instruction- formerly resource/inclusion) at Parkway Elementary! I primarily work with our youngest students, which is where my heart and experiences lie.

I taught in the early elementary grades for most of my 30 years of teaching, including my 18 years in LISD. I am the mom of four (2 LISD graduates, 1 in high school in LISD, and 1 here at Parkway), so I have experience as a parent in LISD too. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from The University of Texas at Austin (go Longhorns!), and I have a Master’s from Texas Woman’s University in Educational Leadership. I have always loved working with young children and helping them build a foundation and a love for learning. I want to make each child feel special, loved, and excited to learn more about their world so that they can imagine and create their own road to success. My goal is to encrouage and empower my students, their parents, and my co-workers to achieve their personal goals for success!

My family lives in Flower Mound, but we like to travel as often as we can afford it. We end up spending most of our time at various activities which involve our kids. Usually we are preparing for or watching a performance of theatre or choir. (I am part of a musical and theatrical family, from the great-grandparents down to each of my kids!) I believe in the creativity and expression that is fostered through the arts, and I like to remind kids that every song and play began with writing a story or poem! Building language arts is my passion at home and at work!
