Degrees and Certifications:

Colleen Curtis

I graduated in 2003 from Texas Woman's University with a BS in Mathematics. In 2004 I earned my certification to teach 8-12 Mathematics and started my teaching career in Irving ISD teching Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 at the high school level. I moved to Carrollton-Farmers Branch to teach 8th grade Per-Algebra and Pre-AP Algebra before moving on to Little Elm ISD where I stayed for 2 years teaching 8th grade Pre-Algebra. In 2008 I moved to HEB ISD where I made my home for 9 1/2 years. HEB ISD truly taught me how important it is to find a workplace where you can thrive and continue to nourish yourself professionally and I am so grateful for all of the friends, mentors, parents, and students that I was blessed to have in my life. And that leads me to the wonderful point I am now, working here at LHS Harmon!! My daughter and I moved to Flower Mound in 2017 to be closer to all of our family. For the remainder of the 16-17 school and the first half of the 17-18 school year I commuted back and forth from Flower Mound to almost Fort Worth while my daughter went to school here in Flower Mound. As you can imagine, this commute was not an easy one on the 2 of us. Being surrounded by co-workers and students who made me adore my job helped me; however, I was still missing a lot of time with my daughter so I proceeded to keep my eyes peeled for a position here in LISD. January of 2018 was my lucky month and I applied, interviewed, was offered, and accepted the position here at Harmon to teach 9th grade Algebra all-year and Algebra 18-week!!!! It has been a wonderful decision!!! Changing jobs is never easy but the staff here is has been incredibly welcoming, supportive, and helpful. I know getting a new teacher in the middle of the year is not easy for kids or parents but I truly appreciate the support I have received so far and only hope to continue to help parents make their kids successful.
