G/T Professional Learning for Secondary Teachers, Administrators, and Counselors
G/T, Honors and AP core content-area teachers who provide instruction and services for gifted students complete a minimum of 30 hours of professional learning which includes: The Nature & Needs of Gifted Learners, Identification & Assessment of Gifted Learners, The Unique Social and Emotional Needs of Gifted Learners, and Differentiating Instruction for Gifted Learners. Teachers also complete 6 hours of G/T update training provided annually by the district.
School Counselors involved in service decisions for G/T students are required to complete 30 hours of professional learning regarding G/T students, and they are required to complete six (6) hours annually of professional learning to increase their understanding of the nature and needs of G/T students.
School Administrators should complete a minimum of six (6) hours annually of professional learning regarding the nature and needs of the G/T student.
