Josh Kirby

Prior to teaching at Career Center East, Mr. Kirby was a police officer in Garland, TX where he served as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, K-9 Handler / Trainer, and Instructor. Mr Kirby continues to serve as a Reserve Police Officer in Denton, TX where he is in charge of training for the reserve unit and also teaches at the Denton Public Safety Training Center. Mr Kirby stays active in the K-9 community as a national select PSA K-9 decoy and United States Police Canine Association judge. 

Mr Kirby teaches Principles of Law Enforcement, Law Enforcement One, Practicum in Law Enforcement, and coaches the LISD mock trial team. Students will learn fundamentals of law enforcement and police operations, through classroom instruction, hands on learning, and real world experiences. While the goal of the class is to introduce students to the field of criminal justice, students will also learn about citizenship, character, service, and leadership. 

Mr Kirby enjoys time with his family, camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, college football, baseball, and training dogs.
