Mrs. Mary Kay Pfister
Welcome!
Hello! My name is Mary Kay Pfister and I am so excited to work with you and your child through their 3rd grade adventure. This will be my first year at Donald Elementary and my third year in third grade! I have ten years of teaching experience -- starting out in Cypress Fairbanks and Allen ISD, and then the last 7 years in Lewisville ISD. I love what I do, and I absolutely LOVE third grade!
I have a Chemistry and Math minor, and have studied different sciences for most of my adult life. I have a fascination of the life sciences. In addition to the trainings offered through our amazing district, I have taken extensive coursework on robotics, programming for children, and am currently a member of the Konos Perot Stem Institute for teachers. I love science that is hands-on, messy and a little bit surprising. Mostly, I want your child to leave 3rd grade with a love of science and math!
About Me:
I have lived in Flower Mound for 18 years. I have a Bachelors degree from Texas A&M University in Curriculum and Instruction. My husband and better half, Kevin, works in sales for Shred-It and together we have two daughters, Kathlyn and Kaylee. Kathlyn (sophomore) is a future veterinarian and plays flute in the Flower Mound High School marching Jaguar band. Kaylee (8th grade, FWMS) is my water polo wonder and piano/french horn player. Two barking furbabies (Comet and Cocoa) round out our family. We frequently foster puppies through Humane tomorrow, especially in the summer.
Besides my family and my faith, a few things that fill my days are: reading, sewing, travelling (a lot to California for water polo!), spending time with family and friends, shopping, and gardening. I love attending Aggie and FMHS games and spend a lot of time crafting my own materials for science and math. When we have days off you can usually find me out in my flower beds, or with a Starbucks in one hand and a book in the other.
