Hello and welcome to the LISD STEM Academy @ (the way cool) Donald Art Room! I am BEYOND excited about this new school year!

I have been an art teacher for over 20 years and a classically trained oil painter. I absolutely love what I do! I am a strong advocate of art education and believe every child needs highly qualified and motivated fine art programs to understand and build 21st Century Skills. I am passionate about meaningful integration of art with other content areas and earned my national STEM certification in 2018. I love teaching strong artistic studio skills, creativity and innovation to the amazing kids at Donald.

My philosophy of art education is an integrated approach. We blend art and STEM, world history, cultures, reading, etc., into art making. We explore a wide variety of art materials and techniques, with deliberate creative and imagination skills. As students grow in age and confidence, they are allowed more creative freedom. Our future depends on creators and innovators, and those are the skills I teach your children.

The focus of my room is on acting and seeing like an artist. We learn to observe, explore, experiment, fail, try again, and have fun.

Your children will create with pencils, pastels, clay, yarn, paint, and (4th and 5th) digitally. They will learn textiles, printmaking, drawing and painting, sculpture and ceramics, digital art, how to explore their imagination, learn about the world around them and express themselves.

I have volunteered my artistic services over the years to the Lake Cities Ballet Theatre as a scenic painter and helped design and paint the Flower Mound "Fort Wildflower" community playground.  When not at school, I love spending time with family and friends, reading, gardening, playing with my dogs, and painting in my studio.
