My name is Kim Hardin, and I am beginning my 20th year of teaching, 18th year here at Lakeview. I teach special education in the SDI push in and pull out settings. I am the department chair of special education as well. I am looking forward to a wonderful, successful year!

I attended Texas Tech University where I obtained a B.S. degree in Family Studies. GO RED RAIDERS!! After working for the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation for a few years out of college, I soon realized teaching was my calling. I then obtained my Special Education certificate and my first teaching job outside of Austin. 

There are two core beliefs that stand out to me and in my mind, go together: "Every student is uniquely capable and deserves to be challenged each day," and "Uninhibited learning depends on a safe, nurturing, inclusive, and flexible environment." All students deserve the respect, knowing when they walk into their classroom, they will not be judged, but instead, welcomed and praised for their efforts. Students of all abilities need to be challenged, knowing their efforts are rewarded.
