In the spring of the 2001-2002 school year, the LISD Technology Department undertook an initiative to help all LISD teachers become competent computer users. This initiative consists of multiple components, including competency skills and classroom technology integration tools. For teachers who demonstrate solid competency skills, who also make use of active learning with technology in their classrooms, and who agree to help promote computer use on their campuses through participation in campus-based study groups, the district provides laptops which may be used both at school and at home.
The reason for this initiative is to provide our professional staff with the knowledge and skills that are now expected by the State Board of Educator Certification. To print a copy of the SBEC Teacher Application Standards, click here.
