| Read this information before beginning the tests.
Passing all four of these tests does not guarantee that you will be issued a laptop. The next step includes the application that must be completed and submitted after all tests have been passed. These tests are based on the SBEC (State Board of Educator Certification) requirements for all new teachers. The requirements have been endorsed by the TEA, and are recommended for all teachers in the State of Texas. If you would like to download and print a copy of the SBEC standards for all teachers, click here

NOTE: Click here to access additional resources: You are encouraged to use resources such as the Internet, application help, and reference books while taking these tests. It is OK to consult other people, but they may NOT be with you at the computer (or on the phone) while you are taking a test.
Before submitting a test, be sure to use the accompanying rubric to review your work. Because of the differences between computers, and especially fonts, some results may be different so these differences will not affect the grade. |

Helpful Suggestions:
- If you are unable to access the tests, please ask your facilitator to install a current version of Adobe Acrobat Reader (8.0). To print the tests, use the Acrobat printer button.
- Before submitting a test, be sure to use the accompanying rubric to review your work. Because of the differences between computers, and especially fonts, some results may be different. These differences will not affect the grade.
- The word processing test, the multimedia test, and the operating systems test are each graded on a 30 point scale. For each of these tests, 27 will be considered a passing grade.
- There is no rubric for the operating systems test. It will be graded pass-fail.
- The operating systems test requires the grader to access the teacher's network folder to examine the teacher's test files. Any changes made to the test files after they have been saved to the teacher's folder will affect the grading of the test.
