Psychological Services
Lewisville ISD Psychological Services consists of eighteen Licensed Specialists in School Psychology (LSSP), eleven of which are Licensed Psychologists, and six doctoral level interns. The LSSPs work collaboratively with teachers, counselors, administrators, parents, and special education students to reduce psychosocial barriers that interfere with learning. Psychological Services provides psychological evaluations, counseling, behavior management, and crisis intervention. The LSSPs support campus staff and parents through consultation regarding students with emotional and behavioral difficulties.
Psychological Services organizes support for families through the Family Center. The Family Center is organized around the needs of families with one or more children receiving Special Education supports and services. Family Center services include family counseling, consultation, and referral services, and are offered on a short-term basis with a solution-focused approach. The participating staff members consist of Licensed Specialists in School Psychology, Licensed Professional Counselors, psychology residents, and pre-doctoral interns in psychology.
Psychological Services also hosts FOCUS Night, a monthly meeting for parents of LISD students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. During the meeting time parents attend informational presentations while the students receive social skills training. Sibling groups and child care are also available during FOCUS Night meetings.
