Lewisville High School Drumline Wraps Up Season Undefeated
“After having lost an outstanding class of 10 seniors from the 2016 drumline, 2017 looked to be a rebuilding year,” LHS Band’s Director of Percussion Quiyan Murphy said. “We invited eighth-grade students from our feeder middle schools to join our winter drumline roster, and the students decided as a unit to not waste a single minute of rehearsal and see how far they could go.”
The drumline’s 2017 production was entitled, “The Root of All.” Not only did the production test the students’ music skills, it also challenged their acting, athletic and dancing skills.
“I’m so proud that every student—eighth through twelfth-grade—gave everything they had and were rewarded with an undefeated season,” Murphy said. “The students now know what excellence requires and plan on building on their success both in the fall for marching band and in the winter for indoor drumline.”
The 2017 Drumline improved with each NTCA competition:
- 2/4 Azle HS NTCA Percussion Contest | Scholastic A Class | First Place – 79 score
- 3/25 Red Oak HS NTCA Percussion Contest | Scholastic A Class | First Place – 85.85 score
- 4/1 Adamson HS NTCA Percussion Contest | Scholastic A Class | First Place – 87.2 score
- 4/8 NTCA Percussion Championship | Scholastic A Class | First Place – 90.438 score
